This one is a quite recent addition to the ‘personal year charts’ lists. YT = YouTube link; if still available when you are reading this.
Why publishing this?
To share my passion, and to get people in touch with something great they didn't know yet. Yeah, you'll find a lot of chart hits, but also less known (or even obscure) stuff; especially among the relatively recent releases --> mid 00s-now.
What kind of music?
Everything, as long as I like it enough. In fact, I like tracks within about 1001 subgenres, from extremely old to brand new and from obscure gems to huge hits.
There's a certain underlying feel in a lot of tracks, though. Most is quite light hearted, with a warm and natural undertone (also when it's 100 % electronic). Many of them have a slight funky and/or psychedelic edge. And - related to the things mentioned before - I like a dynamic production, where you can hear the details very well.
My personal dislikes:
Bloated, excessively overproduced 'loudness war' music / obvious autotune / the sterile thing called 'turbopop'. Forced hipness. Sugary softpop like Celine Dion. Specific parts of contemporary EDM; Afrojack and similar styles. Or too generic '50000 people in a huge venue putting their hands in the air' trance.
But there will always be exceptions, with an undefinable 'x-factor'.
Why this site is track based
There are full albums I really like. But in fact, I've always been a typical 'track listener'.
Top 3/5/10/15, other favorites and bubbling unders?
On top of the list is my top 3, 5, 10 or 15 of favorite tracks, depending on the total amount of tracks.
Other favorites = subtop tracks, rated at least 4 points on a 1-5 scale --> based on my own taste, which is strictly intuitive and subjective.
Bubbling unders = my remaining favorites, rated more than 3 points on a 1-5 scale.
About the year of release:
Basically, every track is on the page of it's original year of release (the 'oldest' year I can find, after searching sites like Discogs). Also when it became a hit 1/2/more years later --> on the 1991-2013 pages, such tracks have been marked, btw.
