Good Vibrations is down, at the moment

At the moment i’m typing this (about 5.30 AM Central European Time), you can’t listen to Good Vibrations. There seems to be something wrong with the server.

Hopefully, it’s solved soon.

* = dance music, around 120 bpm and upwards. In the early 90s also semi dance (100-120 bpm).
** = 50s/60s exotica and bossa nova, ska, motown, hiphop, swingbeat, funk, soul, 70s style disco, world music, reggae, jazz, etc..
*** = ambient, idm, electronic, downtempo/lounge
**** = pop or rock, spanning from Nirvana to Britney Spears. 60s surf pop and synth based 80s disco are also counted.
***** = other styles, like cabaret.

# = guilty pleasure music. For some reason, I like those corny/cheesy tracks.

About the year of release

Basically, I put every track on the page of it's orginally year of release (the 'oldest' year I can find, after searching Discogs and such sites).

More about the music

Why publishing this?

To share my passion, and to get people in touch with - imo - something great they didn't know yet.

Why reading this, being a visitor?

Can be either nostalgic fun, digging up loads of old tracks, or a way to discover something 'new'. Especially among the relatively recent tracks (mid 00s-now) are a lot of less known or even obscure ones.

What kind of music?

I'm no purist, and my musical taste is a mish mash. From almost prehistorical to brand new, from utterly corny to really credible, from number one hits to obscure stuff. And besides that, I like tracks within about 1001 subgenres.

But most is quite light, with a natural undertone and an open, dynamic production. Another thing many tracks are sharing: a psychedelic and/or funky edge.

My personal dislikes:

Bloated, excessively overproduced 'loudness war' music. Obvious autotune. Forced hipness. Sugary softpop like Celine Dion. Specific parts of contemporary EDM; Afrojack and similar styles. Or too generic '50000 people in a huge venue putting their hands in the air' trance.

But there will always be exceptions, with an undefinable 'x-factor'.
